Lapsang Souchong

Lapsang Souchong

Sourced from the Wuyi Shan region in the Fujian province of China, more famously known for its Oolong Teas. This tea became popular in England during the nineteenth century. Historically, the tea was created by accident. Legend has it that during the Qing dynasty this tea was dried under pinewood and then buried in mountains. When it was dug up, initially it was thought to have ruined. But it was offered to Dutch traders as an option who loved it and brought it back to trade. Lapsang means pinewood and Souchong means quality large leaf.
